Week 27- Holy Baptism – Days

Reading for Day 1

Matthew 3:  1-17

 What was the message of John the Baptist?

When people were Baptized by John the Baptist  what did they do first?

Where was Jesus Baptized?

What did John want Jesus to do for him?

For what reason was Jesus Baptized?

When Jesus was Baptized what came down from Heaven in the form of a dove and came to rest on Jesus?

Who was the voice that spoke?

What did that voice say?

Where do we find the entire Holy Trinity in this reading?

         God the Holy Spirit

Reading for Day 2

Matthew 28: 16-20

 Before Jesus ascended (went up to heaven to be with His Father) He gave the disciples a command?    What was it? 

How are they to “make disciples”?

In who’s name are they to Baptize?

What is to go along with the Baptizing? 

Jesus makes a promise to all people just before He goes up (ascends) to be with His Father.  What is it?

  Why did Jesus die?

When we are Baptized we are connected to Jesus’ death which gave us the forgiveness of sins.   Did Jesus stay dead?

What promise does Romans 6 give to us? 

If we are Baptized in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit will we stay dead after we die?

Why not?

Blessings of Baptism

LSC Q 308  God does great things in our Baptism.  What do these verses assure us God does for us in Holy Baptism.

LSC Q 309   Christ accomplished the forgiveness of all my sins, and the sins of all people on the cross.   How is that gift of forgiveness given to me? 

LSC Q 312   If God commands Baptism how can someone be saved that is not Baptized?  

LSC Q 313  What would have to happen for a Baptized person to not go to heaven? 

LSC Q 314  I love to teach people and encourage people to make the sign of the Holy Cross.   Why is it so important to remember our Baptism all the time?
