Week 1: (Sept. 8-14, 2019) DAYS

30 Jan 2020
Shari Gannon
Reading for Day 1 and 2

Inspiration of Scripture.      2 Timothy 3:10-17

Memory work:2 Timothy 3:16-17

All Scripture Is Breathed Out by God

10 You, however, have followed my teaching, my conduct, my aim in life, my faith, my patience, my love, my steadfastness, 11 my persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra—which persecutions I endured; yet from them all the Lord rescued me. 12 Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, 13 while evil people and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it 15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Family Questions.

  1. What does persecutions and persecuted mean from ? 2 Timothy 3:11-12

  1. Why do we need to be in God’s Word every day?  2 Timothy 3:12.

  1. Why does St. Paul use the word continue in 2 Timothy 3:14?

Law and Gospel                             Romans 3:9-24

Memory work:   Romans 3:22b – 24

No One Is Righteous

9 What then? Are we Jews any better off? No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin, 10 as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one;
11     no one understands;   no one seeks for God. 12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” 13 “Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive.” “The venom of asps is under their lips.”
14     “Their mouth is full of curses and bitterness.” 15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood;
16     in their paths are ruin and misery, 17 and the way of peace they have not known.”
18     “There is no fear of God before their eyes.” 19 Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. 20 For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.  But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— 22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

  1. What does it mean to be under the law?  Romans 3:19
  2. How does Jesus justify us?
