Reading for Day 2

Luke 15:1-7

Why did the Pharisees and the scribes grumble when Jesus received sinners and eat with them?

What is the central point of this parable?

Why would the man “rejoice” after he had to leave all the other sheep, and search for the one sheep that would not stay with the rest?

In this parable, Jesus is showing us the will of God. What is God’s will?

Reading for Day 3

Luke 15: 8-10

If you had 10 one-dollar bills and would lose one in the house, would you go through everything in the house to find the one dollar?

Why or why not?

What if you lost 1000.00 in the house? Would you go through everything in the house looking for the $1000.00?

What made the difference?

In verse 10 Jesus tells us about joy. What brings joy to the angles of God?

What does this parable tell us about our value in God’s eyes?

Reading for Day 4

Luke 15:11-32

When is a last will and testament usually read and the parent’s things divided up?

What was the one son saying to his Father when he demanded that Dad divide up his estate?

What does squandered mean?

The son had blown all the money he got from dad. He had nothing, he was homeless and had no food.

What things could he do to find food and shelter?

What did the servants of the Dad have plenty of?

When the son went back to his father how was he expecting to be treated?

“While he was still a long way off, his father saw him”. What was the father doing that he saw the son while he was a long way off?

Why was the son willing to be treated like one of his father’s servants?

How did the Father treat the son when He came home?

What did the father do for the son?

Write out verse 24.

How is this verse a reflection of God’s will for all people in the 3rd petition of the Lord’s Prayer?

Reading for Day 5

Luke 15:25-32

How did the older son react when he heard the younger son had come home?

Did he go into the party for the younger son?

Why not?

What was his excuse?

What did the father say to the oldest son?

Day 6 Questions from the Catechism.

LSC Q 261 What is the good and gracious will of God?

LSC Q 262 How could Satan take God’s name from us?

How could the world take God’s name from us?

How could our own sinful nature take God’s name from us?

LSC Q 264 Has Satan already been defeated?

How.

When will Satan be banished forever?

How will this happen? SeeRevelation 20:1-3

LSC Q 265 We spend a lot of time trying to figure out what God wants me to do with my life. This question gives 3 concrete things God wants for my life. List them:

1.

2.

3.
