Get to Know Your Elder

Elder Travis Karr

I have been married to my wife, Alisa, for 22 years. We have two children, Grayson, 22, who lives in Virginia, and Fletcher, 12. My wife and I moved to the Black Hills last year from Virginia, after I served in the US Army for 6 years & later retired from Law Enforcement, and Alisa retired from the US Army after 20+ years. I originally grew up East River, in Hawarden, IA. I currently live in Piedmont, SD. Thank you for the opportunity to be your elder.

 Elder Dale Heidelberger

I have been a member of Divine Shepherd for over 2 years. I was born in Britton, SD where I was baptized and confirmed in Madison, SD and married in Madison, SD. I have been married to my wife Mary for 48 years. We have 3 children-2 daughters and a son-One daughter lives in Minneapolis and our son and youngest daughter live in Rapid City. I have been an Elder at Divine Shepherd since January 2022. I look forward to meeting people that I haven’t met and would love to visit with you face to face. Elder Jim Delaney 

James “Jim” Delaney has served as an elder for 4 years and is currently the lead elder for Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church. Jim grew up in a small town in Minnesota where he was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church. After graduating college, he married his high school sweetheart, Sara, and they moved out to the Black Hills shortly after their first daughter was born. They currently live in Summerset with their three young girls, Kennadee (age 8), Brynlee (age 6), and Irelynn (age 18 months).
