What is your favorite comfort food? You know, your go-to for when you’re watching movies, sitting by the fire – the food that perhaps makes you feel better after you’ve had a bad day?
In our Advent Series for 2021 we will be looking at the theme of Comfort. The comfort that we receive and know because of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Humbling Himself, He took on flesh to be born into this sinful messed up world to die and rise again. We know and have the comfort He brings to us in His death and resurrection, that is, forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life. The greatest “comfort food” is received when we partake in Christ’s very body and blood. This is the food that sustains and nourishes our sin-sick, weary souls.
Using primarily the writing of the prophet Isaiah, we will explore the theme of comfort as God promises to send the One who will redeem and save us from our sins. The very words of hope and comfort from Holy Scripture, prophecies written 600 – 700 years before the birth of the Savior.
Please join us for Vespers services on the Wednesdays in Advent beginning on December 1st at 7:15 pm. Come to receive His good gifts of comfort that He has for you!
