From One Sign to Another
Have you ever looked at our roadside sign on Peaceful Pines and said to yourself “that sign is sure dim”, or “the letters are crooked or missing”, or “gosh, that message has been up there a long time”? Have you ever wondered who changed the sign and the weather that person had to endure to change the message? If you have, you are not alone. For several years there has been conversation about upgrading the sign. Even so, it was never as high a priority as other projects and needs, but now that is changing.
A member family, who wishes to remain anonymous, has offered to match up to $10,000 in gifts for the purchase of a new sign for Divine Shepherd. The sign would be an “electronic display”, the term used for signs that can project many messages and pictures and do so in color, light, and motion.
If the congregation will raise enough money to receive the matching gift, it will be enough to purchase the electronic display, have it installed properly, and obtain the software required to program it.
The benefits of an electronic display are many, the first being no more messages that are on the sign for 3 weeks or longer; no need to worry about the weather to change the sign; no sign changer is needed, other than a computer program; and messages and announcements and events can be displayed, promoted, and changed as often as desired; and multiple messages can be displayed rather than a single message.
Divine Shepherd is blessed to have a generous congregation. If you would like to support this project a gift of any amount can be made to the DSLC Electronic Display Fund. If donating by check, mark this in the memo of your check. If donating cash, please use an envelope and put the same notation on the outside. All donations can be put in the offering plates or mailed to the church or given to the church secretary Monday through Friday.
Thank you in advance for your support of this exciting project.
