Letter to Congregation from Morgan Phillips
Dear Saints of Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church,
Greeting in the name of our risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!
First, I would like to say it has been an absolute honor and a privilege to serve you as an organist this year. Although my time was brief this year, it was still a joy to get to play for services here. This year didn’t turn out the way I would hope due to COVID-19, but the support I received from you all made the past few months fly by, but by the grace of God, I was able to serve you more ways that I could have never imagined.
I am so thankful for all the support you have given me over the past two years, thank you for letting me use my gifts and talents to serve you, my brothers and sisters in Christ; from being able to introduce new hymns to you, and for being able to stop playing and let you sing without the accompaniment. To hear your voices blend together is something almost indescribable.
I would also like to sincerely thank you for your support of the hymn festival that I held at the end of July. This was the first time I had ever done something like this, and I am ready and eagerly anticipating the next one! I took a free-will donation at the hymn festival to help offset costs for organ lessons this year at Concordia University-Nebraska, and with your generous giving, I was able to pay for lessons for the academic year and then some! Thank you so much! I appreciate all the support I gain from this wonderful congregation!
As I journey back to school, I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. I look forward to coming home in November and playing for you once again for the Christmas Season! God’s richest blessings to you this fall!
In Christ,
Morgan Phillips
